Elissavet Pappa was born in Athens in 1953, and her passion for the arts began at a young age, when she started experimenting painting with acrylics. Later on, she experimented with various techniques and began creating collages using materials found in Greek beaches and nature, such as sand, wood, pumice stone, and more.

The brand Else Ceramics emerged from her special bond to the island of Sifnos, the island’s tradition in ceramics, and the exceptional craftsmen who introduced her to their art. She began painting ceramic plates, mugs, tableware, and home items for her Sifnos home and her close friends in 2020 and through experimentation, alongside distinguished Sifnian potters, she refined her clay techniques and her painting styles.

In April 2024 she held her first solo exhibition titled “Vathi” at the Tsichritzis Foundation for the Visual Arts in Athens. The exhibition was inspired by Vathi, a small cove southwest on the island of Sifnos that marked her relationship with pottery and became the source of inspiration. The sea and the natural landscape defined that work.

Part of this collection was sold at the Athenian store I-d in Golden Hall as well as stores in the islands of Sifnos and Spetses.

She is now working on her second solo exhibition which will take place in Sifnos during the summer of 2026. She spends most of her time in her studio, creating handmade ceramic objects with an abstract aesthetic. Her creations feature vibrant colors, bold patterns, and freeform geometry.

She lives in Athens and spends her summers in Sifnos. She is married and has a daughter.
